POTTIER, MCGHIE AND BLUES TOO MUCH FOR MARAUDERS IN CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

November 26, 2006

Kingston, ON - The McMaster Marauders were unable to match the offensive power of the Toronto Varsity Blues, who earned their third straight OUA Championship, the last two over the Marauders, with a 17-10 victory on Sunday. David Jones (Hamilton, ON) was the Marauders leading scorer with four goals but that was no match for the five goals each that Jake Pottier (Kitchener, ON) and Sean McGhie (Newport Beach, CA) scored for the Blues.

Toronto opened the scoring 28 seconds into the game and had a 4-0 lead before the Marauders Jones scored his first of the game. MAC trailed 5-2 at the end of the first quarter. The Blues extended their lead to 8 - 3 by half-time and 13-6 at the end of the third. The Marauders scored four times in the final quarter, matching the Blues goal for goal but it was not enough.

Richard Saunders (Hamilton, ON), Patrick Pugliese (Dundas, ON) and Graham Park (Waterdown, ON) each scored two goals in a losing cause.

Surprisingly, Toronto's leading scorer in the regular season with 34 goals, Vlademir Tasevski was held to just one goal.
