MAC SPLITS WITH CARLETON; DEFEATS QUEEN'S

Kingston, ON - The McMaster men's water polo team headed to Kingston to face their Eastern Ontario rivals this weekend, and split two games with the Carleton Ravens and defeated the host Queen's Golden Gaels. The Marauders lost their first game on Saturday, 13 - 9 to the Ravens and earned a 14-11 win in the re-match on Sunday. MAC defeated Queen's 19 - 13 on Saturday evening.
The Ravens were able to shut down the Marauders top scoring threat David Jones (Hamilton, ON), holding him to a lone goal in the initial contest. Chris Heagle (Ancaster, ON) and Graham Park (Waterdown, ON) scored two goals each for MAC.
Dejan Suletic scored 4 times, leading the Ravens to victory.
MAC earned their first win of the weekend in a battle of the Jones brothers as David scored a game high 6, while little brother Eric, a rookie with the Golden Gaels, only scored twice. Marauder Richard Saunders (Hamilton, ON) added 4 goals in the 19 - 13 victory for MAC. Rob Prentice (Miami, FL) had 6 goals for Queen's.
Sunday was the MAC-Carleton rematch with the Marauders winning 14 - 11 thanks to 6 goals from the lefty Saunders. Heagle, Jones and Colin Bullock (Dundas, ON) had 2 goals each in the victory. The Ravens were led by Fedja Avlijas , who scored 4 goals.
The Marauders return to the pool this weekend when they host the Western Mustangs on Wednesday night. Game time is 7:45 pm at the McMaster pool.
